The Ice Cream Prayer by: Author Unknown,

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is great and God is Good. Let us thank Him for the food, and I would even thank you more if mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart."

Then in theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes and my soul is good already."

The Eagle Parable

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness that most frightens us." We are all eagles. Once we have flown, we can never go back to live like a chicken. It is not a delusion to think we can fly; it is a delusion to think we can't. Manage your fear of greatness and then ... stretch forth your wings and fly toward the dreams that are awaiting you.

Interview With God

I dreamed I had an interview with God...
"So you would like to interview me?" God asked...
"If you have the time" - I said.
God smiled.
"My time is eternity... ...what questions do you have
in mind for me?"
What surprises you most about human kind?
God answered
That they get bored with childhood,
they rush to grow up,
and then long to be children again.
That they lose their health to make money
and then lose their money
to restore their health.
That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present, such that they live in
neither the present nor the future.
That they live as if they will never die,
and die as trough they had never lived.
Gods hand took mine and we were silent for awhile
And than I asked:
As a parent, what are some of life's lessons
You want your children to learn?
To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved.
To learn that it is not good to compare
themselves to others.
To learn to forgive by
practicing forgiveness.
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to
open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them.
To learn that a rich person is not one who has
the most, but is one who needs the least.
To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply do not yet know how to express
or show their feelings.
To learn that two people can look at the same thing
and see it differently.
To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves.
Thank you for your time! - I said humbly.
Is there anything else you'd like your chidren to know?
God smiled and said
Just know that I am here..always.
